Yes indeed. I was hired as a spec writer here at Lotus. In fact, the Notes 
UA team has a group dedicated to writing specs. I've written about this 
before on this list, so I don't want to be repetitive, but I just want to 
say that this experience has been invaluable. The opportunities are 
tremendous - we're in the product development process from the beginning. 
A big bonus is the fact that we have a good relationship with the 
development team - they respect what we do (not to mention that it saves 
them boatloads of work). 

Write the specs - you won't regret it.
