Sounds like the decision has already been made. Change your template and move
along.

Generally, if your new to a job, don't try to change everything.
As much as I hate rigid styles, when the decision is made, accept it and get on
to more important stuff. Every writer has a different perception of what makes
documents more readable. You could mire yourself into a pit of permanent
in-action with such debates.

And its rarely worth the debate. You'll likely just piss off other people who
find such stuff phenomenally petty.
