XML is happening big-time in interactive television.

XML is being used to script applications, define "gadgets" or "widgets"
(sprite-like objects) depending on the host software of the set-top. The
interactivity is defined in the XML, etc.

What is missing is the front-end authoring tool that lets you simulate the
interactive app before downloading it to a set-top. This is coming. I give
it one year. It would not surprise me if MacroMedia teams up with some
interactive TV middleware company to produce a version of one of the MM
tools to front end the XML TV apps.

Vidiom is currently documenting the XML TV specific tags and behavior of the
gadgets-objects. But we are making up the organizational structure of the
doc set as we go, because I haven't got a good model for this type of
project yet.

I would be interested in talking with anyone who is doing similar (not
necessarily TV) XML package work. (onlist or offlist)
