Subject:Writing skills and Latin? From:"Nancy Osterhout" <bluetwilight -at- home -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Fri, 1 Jun 2001 17:23:30 -0700
Handwriting style, musical ability, and foreign languages is somehow
linked into writing ability too, I think.
My handwriting analyst told me that I must be good in music because my
cursive writing showed rhythm. My shorthand teacher told me that I
must be good in music because my shorthand brief forms showed rhythm.
My high-school Latin teacher told me that I was good in learning Latin
and Spanish because I could hear the rhythm. Some of us even remember
speaking in Latin every Sunday at church, too!
I can't carry a tune, but it doesn't matter. I ain't got music, but
I got rhythm!
My ability to write clearly and understand English grammar was the
positive result from learning Latin. Does anyone else on this list
have that experience?

In times of change, learners inherit the earth,
while the learned find themselves equipped
to deal with a world that no longer exists.
