Ramaa,

In my software development company the technical writing team or
documentation team as it's referred to here is part of the product
development team. There has been big debates as to whether we should be part
of Product Development or Support. In fact we sit between development and
support.

Marketing have a totally different audience and their documentation reflects
this. Marketing aren't interested in the ins and outs of the product and how
to actually use it.

Technical Writing should be part of Product Engineering as technical writers
need to work closely with product engineering to produce accurate documents.

Regards,
Katherine
