Hi Valerie,

:: We are starting a new project, which is rewriting all our
:: documentation with
:: single-sourcing in mind. We will be using Frame and WWP.
:: We are
:: therefore new to Framemaker, WWP and ... single-sourcing!
:: We have started to define a template in Frame. Now and
:: before moving to the
:: writing part to test our template we want to know more
:: about the pitfalls of
:: single-sourcing with those tools (about documentation
:: structure etc.).

I can sum up the important things to remember in 4 words:

templates good, overrides bad

You need to create a template with styles the way you want them and stick to
them. The more you manually tweak the text, the more room you make for
pitfalls when trying to convert your files to an online format. Try to
follow a logical structure, keeping in mind both the print and online
desires and limitations of what you are trying to accomplish. I have written
a short introductory paper on this (the paper's a bit old, but still
applies): <http://www.geocities.com/bill_swallow/singlesource.html>

:: I have collected some information from a WWP manual, a few
:: whitepapers form
:: Scriptorium. But if some of you have interesting stories to
:: share or point
:: me to additional resources, we would feel more confident.

Definitely join the Framers and WWP-Users email lists, and check out
WWPUsers.com.
