So it's not an anti-team situation, it's just a different team. I must admit I don't see it as a Bad Thing (unless the new writer was originally hired to work on projects beyond the new product, and you're now short-handed).

I would go with option B. You've already lost the battle to keep the writer on your own team, so leave that dead horse alone. Having the new writer be an informal part of your team is probably your best option at this point.
