Problem is, Acrobat is usually the *second* viewer application to load.
Normally, the user loads a browser and an html page to get started and then
is required to wait for the second viewer, i.e., Acrobat Reader, to load
when the link is to a pdf file. Were the link to just more html, this wait
wouldn't be necessary. Even if the link is in an e-mail and directly to a
pdf file, first the browser and then the reader and then the page have to
load.
Making the customer wait (and requiring the customer to have more software)
should result in some advantage for the customer. This can happen without
question, but too many times the advantage goes to the lazy Web site
designer instead.
