Thanks for your question. I needed a walk down to our software lab to catch
up on office chit-chat. The word I came back with was dot.
which essentially says the same thing. So I suppose you could call the dot
a "selected" indicator. Or you could call the radio button the selected
radio button.
The award-winning (thanks to the STC) Java Look and Feel Design Guidelines
calls the dot an "on" indicator, but they also printed their 232-page book
in sans serif type which brings more pain to my eyes than you can imagine.
The Java book refers to the outer circle as the radio button graphic.
FWIW, the MS Manual of Style for Technical Publications prefers the term
option button.
