In response to Yechiel's advice:

To change between coloured links in PDF and B/W links in print, while using
conditional text to gain the color that you want will work, it's not meant to be
used that way. If you wanted to use conditional text to colour links you would
actually only need one condition. Just toggle the 'Show Condition Indicators" to
hide the colour.

A better formatting way of doing it is either to maintain a template for print
and on-line or just maintain two versions of one character format or multiple
versions of xref formats. Apply the character format to all your xreference
formats. Also, two character formats could be used and interchanged by using
find/replace IF the format isn't applied by your xref format.

If the only colour in your document text is for links or you otherwise print to
a black and white printer, simply using a character format to colour the links
and then selecting "Spot Color as Black/White" when printing will provide you
with a workable solution.

And to repeat advice frequently given on Framers, NEVER use Save As PDF, NEVER
use PDFWriter if you don't have to, and NEVER use any printer instance other
than the distiller to create your PS file. Then of course, make sure your job
settings are correct in Distiller before distilling your PS file. B/W colour
images in PDF, grainy/bad illustrations, and a host of other issues are then
solved.
