Well, I got conflicting opinions (no surprise there I guess!) Most people
said to use "an" if the acronym is pronounced "ess eye" (which, while I'm
sure some people read the acronym as "self-insured", most people would read
it as "ess eye"). I was actually quite surprised that some people wrote that
I should use "a" regardless of how it is pronounced because S is a
consonant.

However, since "an" is what I thought was correct, and that's what the
majority of the responses chose, I'll stick with that (now SQL is another
ball game!)
