RE: Making software manuals available for purchase

Yes Jill, we went through the same process. We make the manual available as
a pdf file in three resolutions:
Press Quality (infinite DPI, about 100Mb) - includes plates between
chapters, can be ordered from a print on demand company.
Print Quality (150->300 DPI, about 40 Mb) - for printing on the user's laser
printer
Screen Quality (75->100 DPI, about 2 Mb) - for the bandwidth/space
challenged
They have even stopped selling via cd altogether, its download or ask for a
custom cd build and mail. Its dropped our production costs, and so far all
the users are happy enough with the idea, especially as our price point has
plummetted in response. From $1K to $200...
