Set up Figure paragraph styles with auto-numbering defined

From the "Insert" menu, select "Caption". You have some flexibility in
setting up auto-numbering of captions (and, yes, you can call them Figure 1,
Figure 2, etc.). In Word, you can even set captions to be automatically
inserted when you add an image (although I haven't tried this feature).
