Subject:Do you answer 100% match jobs only? From:"Marc A. Santacroce" <santacroce -at- earthlink -dot- net> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Tue, 21 Aug 2001 10:31:01 -0700
Hello Whirlers,
I'm a really slow learner, but it's recently dawned on me that hiring
managers and agencies seem to be looking for that 100% match with a
lengthening list of job requirements.
In the not-too-distant past, I would get calls on a large percentage of the
resumes I sent out, even if I did not fill all the requirements. Now, at
least in the SF Bay area, nada! I know that my personal gaps are: No C++ or
Java, No RoboHelp, and No API documentation. Now this doesn't mean I
totally lack technical savvy. In the past ten years, almost all my TW
contracts and FTE jobs have involved writing software and hardware
administration guides, as well as installation and configuration manuals.
Please give me some insight as to whether it is even worth answering ads
for which there is not a perfect match.
Regards,
Marc
