Re: HTML editor: does everyone need to be on the same page?

Let me emphatically second Geoff Hart: in some circumstances, the project 
management stuff in these tools (we use Dreamweaver) can be invaluable.

I'm in the process of building a web site w/ 2 other folks, and even with 
just 3 of us, the site management has saved our butts more than once.

Two examples:

- Like Word and Frame, Dreamweaver lets us create templates and library 
objects. That means, when we change the color or realize we left an 
important item off a dropdown menu, we change the template and it 
automatically changes all 150+ pages. Beats Copy & Paste hands down. 
Mistakes happen and designs change.

- Check In/Check Out feature is crucial; more than once, 2 of have been 
working at the same time and seen the same problem on a page. Checking the 
files in/out insures that we're not both trying to fix it at the same time 
and . . . how to say this politely? . . . screwing up each other's work.

So in some cases, those nifty little doodads come in handy. If I were 
working by myself, or didn't care if everything looked the same, well, who 
knows.
