RE: Does anyone here handle co-branded documentation

First of all - I've found that different people mean different things by
"co-branding", so forgive me if this isn't quite what you're looking for!
My company sells a web-based product that our partners can rebrand in
several different ways - look/feel, layout, function name, and can even
somewhat reorganize the application. As you can imagine, its a bear to
manage the documentation end of things.
I've somewhat eased the process by moving to an XML based single-source
documentation system (using IBMs DITA) - this allows me to externalize
common things that I know the partner might want to change, and to quickly
change the look and feel without touching the content. So out of a
documentation set that can contain upwards of 200 topics, I only have to
maintain a few dozen separately for each partner.
What I haven't had to deal with yet is maintaining those unique topics as we
have version updates. My guess is I'm just going to have to use a diff tool
on those topics and make the updates for each partner. But I'm really not
looking forward to that!
