We had a similar discussion around our department recently, except that
instead of including a 3rd-party book, we wanted to recommend a particular
book as the best book to learn about the technologies our product used. As
our software is pretty cutting edge, there's only specifications and a few
books on the related technology. We wanted to advocate the best of the
bunch.

Ultimately, product management didn't want to give approval to a particular
book, for fear of offending other authors and publishers and because a
better book might be published the day after we ship. Has anyone else done
this sort of thing? Thanks. DB.
