Thanks to the many people who replied to my request opinions
about going for a tech comm certificate vs. continuing with my
informal self-education program.

There were opinions favoring both. On the balance, though, it
seems my homegrown investigations will be of most benefit. (Now,
there's the self discipline problem.... But that's another
subject.)
