Well ...

A task is anything you have to do. Your task may be one step, a procedure, many
procedures, or indeed many tasks. But If you've only been given a set of steps
to perform, have you been given a procedure?
A procedure certainly has steps and many of those steps may very well be complex
procedures, making the whole thing a rather difficult task.
