There is definitely incentive for some companies to
hire writers with multiple language proficiencies. I
do not think there is a screaming need for it though.
Most companies tend to work in the native language of
their headquarters or target user community, and then
out-source the materials for translation/localization.
But, if translation is something that interests you,
there are many companies (big and small) who would
benefit from your talents, for translation work and
for their own publication/documentation needs. One
such larger company is Lionbridge. And if you're
looking for something smaller, check out your local
yellow pages for translation shops. You never know
when they might be hiring. Seeing as it's such a
finite market, they often tend to recruit from their
network of contract translators rather than advertise
the position to the public.
