Jim,
An interesting concept, but as a translator (Japanese --> English), I
can assure you that individual words rarely cause a problem.
The problems are terminology (sometimes terms are single words but more
often they are multiple-word phrases), convoluted writing style, lack of
subject matter and even language expertise on the part of the translator, and
source document conventions (e.g. Japanese patent legalese is almost a
language unto itself)

For example, the individual words in the term General Protection Fault
would present no problems to any translator, however, the term might be
a problem for a translator if she or he were not familiar with
(deprecated) MS terminology. Or imagine the individual words in a
contract., (party of the first part comes to mind).

Your best bet is to hire a well-qualified translator, possibly through
an agency that provides oversight and quality controls.
