Okay - next question...
My books get updated every 6 months to a year to change with the technology.
How would you recommend that I handle copyright issues? I have researched
copyright quite a bit. Since I am not paid to write the books I retain
copyright ownership (instead of - if I was paid to write them, whoever pays
me retains copyright ownership). Is there a copyright that can be used and
reused on the same title even though it's been updated with a different
version number?

I have always worked under the simple rule that once the copyright is on the document, versioning doesn't matter. Each version, which you indicate either by version number, or date covred under the copyright. You might check with the Chicago Manual of Style for publication dates, versions, and copyright. I don't have my copy here, but I recall that they have a discussion on this subject.
