That does sound bizarre, but I hoped you used it as a learning experience.
You just got a rare opportunity to see how your direct competition handles
themselves in interviews. Probably a great case study of do's and don'ts!

Another perspective: Many companies really need people who are flexible -
this interview was definitely a good chance to show that you're flexible
and can adapt to changing and/or unexpected circumstances.

I'm not saying I think this was a great interviewing technique, but I
think if you examine the experience, it shouldn't be a total wash.
