Re: Software Text Incorrect
I am shocked that a company would actually let software screens
go out with typos. Whatever happened to QA?
QA in our company won't test or report anything that isn't described in the specifications. For some reason which I have been totally unable to fathom, our VP of Development considers any and all UI issues to be cosmetic and therefore of no significance. UI design is not a part of the specifications (except when the code is written before the specs are written). Our software is blessed with misspellings, tortuous design, widespread use of computer jargon, pseudo-language (sortations, deactive). No exceptions, no appeals.
Since our primary users are counter people at automotive repair shops, he figures UI issues are a total waste of time and don't warrant a "programmer's" attention. Everything to him is a "training issue".
We don't have a training department, btw.
My previous manager was as incredulous as you are. Top management grew weary of hearing him talk about these issues. Now I have a new manager.
We've not received one complaint from our customers (in the three years I've been here) and we're the leading provider of software solutions to the industry.
Go figger!
