Economy here in Seattle is just getting worse by the day. Yes, my phone at
home has started ringing, but the jobs have been for extremely short
duration (all less than a month). And Boeing is getting rid of 30% of their
people, along with the state employees about to be told across the board,
"Pick one: Pay cut or Unemployment".
I just am glad I am working (and getting paid on time) in the state with the
highest unemployment rate (6.8%, it just happened, we haven't put up the
signs yet to stop the Californians from moving here).

Has anybody noticed a sudden upsurge in the number of jobs available in
the last week or so? I don't know whether to attribute it to the fall of
Kabul (and the possibly false belief that the war is over), the
improvement in the stock market, the phrases of the moon or pure
coincidence, but, in the last week, I've had four employers contact me
about possible work. This may not sound like much, but it's a rate about
eight times greater than what I've learned to expect in the last few months.
Three of these possible jobs include marcom work, by the way -
specifically, marcom done from a solid understanding of the technology
being advertised.
Is anyone else seeing similar changes? I know people are still being
laid off, but maybe some hiring has started, too.
