Maker variables are different than Word variables. A Maker variable is
a range of text that is expanded out according to a definition you
specify in the Vars dialog (and Maker stores as a separate data object
somewhere in the document). One defenition per "range". So you would
need to have one variable for prod name, one for version, and another
for prod name + version, if that's how you want to do it.
On the other hand, I'm fairly certain you can nest text insets. That
would mean you can have a flow "MyInsetFlow" in a document with some
text in it. That text can include a text inset to some other file or
flow. Then you can import the MyInsetsFlow text into your real
document. Probably not worth the effort if you're just talking about
prod names and versions. But for other things it might be worthwhile.
