Tom's post has distressed me to the point of tears. I am already very
distressed at the thought of what might happen to those young people who may
be asked to go into those caves. This whole situation is miserable, just
miserable, stemming from those unthinkable acts of September 11.
Tie into technical writing: No, I would not write the specifications for a
cluster bomb. Yes, I am terribly worried about those young people who may
suffer, and I am sick when I think about pain their loved ones may have to
endure. My son is not in the military, so, yes, it is very easy for me to
make that first statement. Tom is right.

But I would point out that guns and bombs and Global Positioning
Satelites are
at this moment--among other things--defending your right to even have
this
discussion. And if you want to limit the taking of innocent lives, then
perhaps
you would want those things to work right, and perhaps you would want
the
instructions for them to be written well.
