Jane,

In order to have FM display on screen a rendition that is more closely related to the way the doc prints, you need to change this setting from the default (Off) to On. It's buried about half way down the maker.ini in the Fonts section.

DisplayUsingPrinterMetrics=On

As far as the line measure difference between italics and regular, that's the way it is with all fonts, it has nothing to do with FM. Italic versions set narrower than the regular face in the same font. You could possibly go through some gyrations to add a spread to the italic paragraphs, but it probably wouldn't end up working 100% reliably, as the character metrics between the italic face and the regular face are different.

(The only time this might not apply is with a word processing app that "synthesizes" italics by just tilting the regular face. This is generally considered a sub-quality hack.)
