Hi, guys...been using something that has saved my butt a few times. I
have no stake in the company, no money is received, and have not been
contacted by them to promote them. Just wanted to pass it along.

I've been using a service called GoToMyPC, found at
http://www.gotomypc.com/

What it allows you to do is access a PC (in this case, my home) from
anywhere (such as work) with only a browser. Access includes not only
upload and download files, but to actually run the application on the
remote PC.

Example of what I've used it for, in addition to the "damn, I left
the file at home" incidents.

1) Upload a Word document from work to my home PC, "take over" the
home PC, launch Acrobat v5 installed on that PC (had v4 on my work
computer), PDF the file on the remote PC, then download the PDF back
to my machine at work.

2) I accessed my home PC from work, and from work, launched and ran
AOL to access an email with a file that someone sent to my AOL
account.

3) From work, accessed a third pc using CheckIt Fastmove to the
second PC (LPT to LPT connection application) to write files to my
CDburner, which I accessed from work.

You do pay for the service, which after an hour trial, is 9.95 per
month unlimited access for upto 2 remote PCs. I only installed the
application on my remote (honme) PC, then by clicking a link at work,
was able to log into that PC from my work PC with nothing installed.

Security seems ok, I use Zone Alarm Pro at home and corporate
firewall at work and neither of these stopped me from doinig what I
wanted.

I like it and it works.
