Kelley asked:

what exactly do we call the english that is the lingua franca of the
contemporary corporate world?

corporate english? business english? american english? ??

According to the marketing droids around here, the phrase is
"International English" - by which they mean American. I ignore
them of course and use British ('cos I am! :-) )

Perhaps a reference to how airline pilots and air traffic
controllers use English as a common language would make the point.
