Software versions: higher, later or above?

(I can not access the archives right now, so please excuse me if this has
been answered before.)

When referring to software versions and releases, would you say:

* MS Bloat 2.1 and higher
* MS Bloat 2.1 and later
* MS Bloat 2.1 and above

I suspect it's a case of picking one and using it consistently, but can
anyone cite a reason for choosing one of those options over the others?
