I took the usual speech classes in HS and college, but while I
understood the concepts, execution was a problem because I was
always white-knuckle stage fright. Then I got a job as a corporate
trainer and I knew I had to do something to get over it.

My answer was to take several semesters of a voice (singing) class
at the local JC at night. The class was structured so that we all
warmed up together at the beginning, but after the break each
student went up on stage and performed a solo while the rest of
the class critiqued the performance.

Doesn't bother me much to get up in front of an audience any more.
