Peter,

I believe that your problem is related to one or two concepts.

1. When you create text in Photoshop, there is an option to anti-alias, or not. When you anti-alias type, you are adding non-black pixels to the text, and it appears fuzzy in some output. If you have enough resolution, say 600 dpi in the printer, then black text created with Photoshop in a 600 resolution file will print very well.

2. You are using JPEG format, which is lossy. The algorithm employed will cause loss of detail or undesirable artifacts in certain images. If you are going to print, EPS is a better format.

As others have already reported, if you create your type as a vector (Illustrator or layout program), then you will see better results.

I have a graph that i creating in Photoshop that is being prepared for
printing. The text tool in Photoshop creates text that appears fuzzy when
printed. I have tried creating clear text in programs like Pagemaker and
MS Word, converting them to pdf and bringing them into Photoshop, but the
fuzziness remains.

I have much of the Adobe suite to work with. Can anyone help?
