If the product UI is localized, use localized screenshots. And if that means
nine sets of screenshots, so be it.
If the product is not localized, show it how it will actually appear to the
user, even if it is just in English. Be sure, however, that any callouts in
the screenshot are properly translated.
It would be cruelly misleading to provide localized screenshots if the
product itself is not localized. Imagine the poor user desperately trying to
find the setting that will make the UI appear in their native language, as
indicated by the screenshot in the manual.
As to the idea of blurring the screenshot... What could possibly be the
point in that? Is the UI blurry, too? Who's designing this product anyway?

Subject: Help! Translation and graphics?
I didn't see any answers posted to this question, so I
will assume the email didn't get through and ask
again.
We have manuals with screen shots in them. The screens
are in English. Our manuals get translated into 9
languages. How do you handle this at your company?
Do you translate all the screens and take screen
shots?
Do you blur the graphic so it's 'generic'?
Do you leave out screen shots altogether?
Help!
Thanks!
