TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Gosh, and I was unconsciously Googlewhacking when I introduced the now
legendary (in my mind at least) game "Six Degrees of Andrew Plato."
But this guy gets famous, and I get spanked for posting OT stuff. Life is
so unfair.
But to keep this on topic, I gotta say that the recent surge of posts
providing insight into who and how and why we hire certain kinds of
writers has been VERY illuminating.
I think people are missing the point when their posts focus on attempting
to persuade each other that their own method is best. The bottom line is
that these varied hiring practices and prejudices - however heinous some
of us may consider them to be - are out there, and are in use.
Forewarned is forearmed, as I believe the saying goes.
(Is that from the Rules of Heraldry?)
