The lawyers might make noise, but come on. Yes indeed the owner of
GartnerSucksBigTime.com can link to Gartner. All Gartner can do is sue for any
provable libel on the Sucks site. Indeed Gartner should be happy because the
link gives them equal time to expalin their side of the issue. If the link
points to something that is indeed wrong, it gives them the chance to correct
it.
It's like saying a car dealer sucks and telling people the street address so
they can go look for themselves. Nothing wrong there. Unless you're advocating
the throwing of eggs.
If you're putting the link into frames, then yes you have a content reuse issue.
But if you launch a new window or remove the frames, I challenge anyone to come
up with how this can possibly be wrong.
Once you put a poster on a wall, you can't expect to control who looks at it or
whether the crowds come to cheer or jeer.
