Finally!!! A position I could easily qualify for except for the XML and
SGML requirements. I say "finally" because it seems that most members of
this list are software writers and I always feel so inferior when I read
some of the discussions, since I write documentation for mass
spectrometers. This ad is for a fairly competent tech writer for a
high-tech manufactured product - pretty standard requirements. In fact,
they're only asking for 2 years experience! What would really be scary is
if it had been a software product they were talking about in the ad!!! Then
I'd feel the same as Ellen!!

I have done mostly software, but I have everything in the ad to some extent.
I was just surprised to see that they only wanted 2 years experience in Tech
Writing, along with everything else, but you could come into such a job from
a manufacturing position.  I know at least one Tech Writing who came into
Tech Writing from off of the manufacturing line, became a "documentation
manager" of specs and such, then took some college coursework and worked
into writing from there.
