TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I'd back it up a few steps further.... it's whatever it takes to design and
deliver a useful product. I do everything from marketing to specs, to UI
design, to help, to training, to user manuals. However, my title says I'm a
tech writer (yes Senior, but still Tech Writer). And I love being involved
from the beginning.
I don't ever WANT the luxury of just writing or mere editing...it would be
just merely boring for me.

Connie Giordano

To me tech writing encapsulates everything it takes to get a manual or
help system out the door.
Researching, getting training, interviewing, writing, editing, posting
rants on bulletin boards, creating and tweaking graphics, designing
documents, etc. If I'm working with legacy docs it also means inheriting,
maintaining, and (I hope) improving them. I never stopped to think of that
as a particularly grand or menial function. Just part of the gig.
I've never had the luxury of JUST writing. Or "merely" editing. Or working
with a "mere" editor. What a luxury that sounds like!
