Can't advise re specific tech writer tools, but reportedly NS 6.1 didn't
work at all (basically) and things are now fixed and fine with NS 6.2. At
least that's what I read. My experience on the WWW is that more and more
applications work poorly or not at all with NS 4.x and that Internet
Explorer is usually the solution. Staying with NS 4.x appears a losing
proposition. I haven't had the guts to try NS 6.2 yet, given all the
negative publicity received by NS 6.1. Why not read PC World or PC Magazine
online for the latest comparison tests? They do them seemingly all the
time, and this would beat relying on my memory for sure. So would checking
with your tool makers.
Also ... as is known widely, a developer of Web pages should usually check
performance of his/her documents on both IE and NS (and possibly Opera). If
you're on an Intranet only with a mandated browser and it's NS, I'd find a
way to check IE performance anyway ... because chances are better than 50-50
you're changing to IE soon. If your work is posted to the WWW, you should
surely test as much as possible, but you can rely somewhat on statistics
that 85% of users there now use IE.
