Once upon a time, I tried to sell myself as a tech editor, but y'know, it
turns out that's a different job, and there aren't very many of them. And
no one advertises for a technical re-writer. But wait, I do write from
scratch, 3 times out of 5, just not all the time! Oh dear! Identity
crisis!
I am content that the term as a category is broad enough to include all the
variations of writing and editing that we do. And I don't think I'll wait
for techwr-l to reach a consensus before deciding whether I'm allowed to
call myself a writer. <wry smile> Who could wait that long for anything?
