Yeah, but I mean if you can't handle the stress of work - then don't work.
Nobody said work was supposed to be fun and happy 100% of the time. Deadlines
and expectations are part of work. If the deadlines and stress of expectations
is making you take months off to recover, then clearly you need a different
profession.
As icky as Rick's message might have been, he has a point. If your first answer
to every work problem is to call a lawyer and take a month off - then you have
serious problems and need to re-evaluate your life. And it is not your
employer's fault that you cannot handle stress.

There is also a difference between legitimate handicap and opportunist s who
use laws and rules to escape responsibility. I've hired and fired my fair share
of people, and unfortunately there is a segment of the working populace who
honestly in their heart believe they are being harassed and mistreated when
they are asked to do the job they were hired to do. I've fired people like this
and without question, their first answer to every work problem is to point the
finger at somebody other than them self. These people dream up rights they
don't have, always see themselves as the victim, and perceive all criticism as
a personal attack against their life and livlihood.
I don't know if Anonymous' situation is like that. However, I sounds a lot like
he or she is being told to shape up or ship out. Were I Anonymous' boss, I'd
probably also have the phone book open to the HR department and termination
papers drawn up and ready to file as soon as Anonymous missed the next
deadline.
I got depressed last week too when a customer backed out of a $100,000 deal so
they could buy the absolute worst security product on the face of the planet
from one of my competitors. But, you don't see me down at the clinic asking for
Anti-Competitive Prozac and a month off of work.
