Before you use the Master Doc feature, read the article entitled, "Why
Master Documents corrupt" at
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/General/WhyMasterDocsCorrupt.htm.

However, when an article about Master Documents on a semi-official Microsoft
website ends with "A master document has only two possible states: Corrupt,
or just about to be corrupt. And *that* is why we say that the only possible
fix to a master document is 'don't use it!'", then I'd try to find another
solution.

I wrote an article on cutting down the size of Word files that may be
helpful; you can find it at
http://www.rightjustified.net/Tips/general_filesize.htm.

Good luck.

Kevin
