I don't write 'check the ... box.' I specify the feature or option that is
being referred to, as in 'check Disable DTMF,' with Disable DTMF formatted
in Screen (bold) to indicate that's what appears on the screen. If it needs
to be cleared, I simply write 'clear Disable DTMF.' It's simple and so far,
I've never heard any complaints that this formulation is ambiguous.
