Just telling you something that has worked for me, both onscreen and in
print. I do not suggest that it's the most elegant solution, but offer it
as a potential remedy to a crisis (to me a 135Mb file IS a crisis).

IME, often the culprit behind the file-bloating seems to be not so much
the FILES that are inserted, but the WAY the files are inserted. In such
instances, the method I've described has delivered satisfactory results,
and has reduced the document's file size back down to within reasonable
limits.

I welcome the opportunity to learn a better way.
