I recently stumbled up the following resource, which summarizes
the major systems modeling and diagramming approaches. I
haven't really read it thoroughly, but bookmarked it for future reading.
It may give you some ideas for further investigation.

If that's not helpful, a Google search on "system design diagram"
will probably give you hours of browsing-fodder.
