Subject:Status of the job market in NJ-an observation From:John Posada <jposada01 -at- yahoo -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Wed, 24 Apr 2002 12:38:09 -0700 (PDT)
Hi, guys...just thought I'd throw in my observations regarding the
condition of the job market as I've seen it in the last couple of
weeks.
In a nutshell, since Friday of last week, at which point I started
looking for a replacement contract seriously, I've been contacted by
5 agencies, 4 of which are presenting my resume to their clients; two
pharm and two telecom.
I was contacted after activating my resume on Monster and Dice.
None of these are entry level, what during the boom would have been
paying $60/hr or more, are now offering high $40s/hr.
I feel the market is much more active than the Spring of this
year...maybe things are turning around. I also have another
opinion...
I get the feeling that they're starting to get fed up with the
quality level that comes with the low rates they were asking
before...$20/hr, $25/hr. $30/hr. They seem to have tried them and
found they were getting what they were paying for. Now they want
people who can deliver product, not just a certificate or diploma.
Who know, it may be awhile before I get back to $77/hr that I was
getting 18 months ago, but it seems to be looking up.
