Do you have lower costs associated with research than with writing? Do you pay lower rates for your health insurance during those hours you spend researching? Does your mortgage rate go down?

If your client likes your work well enough to ask you to take on another assignment, why should you have to buy the business from him by lowering your rate? If the client knows you will work for the lower rate, you will be offered the lower rate for the writing assignment as well.

My two cents.
