Practical Limits of Files Size in MS Word

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the list.

Trying to decide whether or not to recommend to my
client that they convert their publications to Adobe
FrameMaker or stay with MS Word.  While I know that MS
Word has severe limitations on the number of pages per
file as well as sheer file size, I have never had a
file crash on me personally.  So the specific
parameters of these limits are sketchy to me.

In terms of the number of pages and/or sheer file size
(in bytes), what do you feel the practical limit is
for a file when using MS Word?
