TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.

I've never used a mechanical pencil in my life. (Well, that's an
exaggeration. But never routinely, not even back when I was learning how to
write.) I've used plain wood pencils, of course. I remember the small
pleasure of a freshly-sharpened pencil.
I learned to type when I was 12, and now type far more often (and more) than
I write. But I'd say I'm definitely a pen person: there's nothing quite like
that magic moment of beginning on a blank page with a good pen. I've never
got attached to individual pens, though: I lose them too often. They just
go.
