I always use the spelling checker, both in MS Word and Adobe FrameMaker. I also have the "check spelling before sending" option turned on in MS Outlook. The spelling checker has saved me plenty of boo-boos. It never hurts to have a second combing over.

The grammar checker's OTOH, especially in MS Word, are nearly useless. I have found that most of the grammar suggestions in MS Word are incorrect English usage, your mileage might vary.
